Google Map Related Policies, Pricing & Impact on Apps/Web 

On July 16, 2018, new pricing changes were implemented for Google Maps, affecting the way certain APIs and features are billed. Guide for Existing Users. The changes align with the new Maps, Routes, and Places functionality that Google launched on June 11, 2018. This update impacts various apps and web platforms that use Google Maps as a third-party map service provider, including Entire OnHire Workforce/Members Apps(iOS/Android) and Web/Staff Portal.  

These apps use paid services to calculate distance, direction, latitude, longitude, and address on different areas of the app or web for a shift. The Check-In/Check-Out feature also uses the paid map service to calculate distance when a distance restriction is applied from the backend.  

The apps and web platforms use different paid Map APIs, including Direction API, Distance Matrix API, Geocoding API, Maps JavaScript API, and Places API 

On July 16, 2018, all API and feature prices changed to align with our pricing table. The section below explains these changes and how they will affect you - please also read these important updates for more information. 

  1. Entirehr Workforce/Members Apps(iOS/Android) - We are using a Google map (third-party map service provider) paid service to find out the distance, direction latitude longitude, and address on the different areas of the app for a Shift. All these services are paid. 

         - App Dashboard -> Shift Details -> To calculate distance and direction. 

       - My Shift - >To calculate distance and direction for a Shift. 

         - Release Shift Detail Screen -> To calculate distance and direction for a Shift. 

 
  • Check-In/Check-Out Feature

– Normal Check-In & Check-Out doesn’t require paid map service but when we apply distance restriction from the backend then to calculate.  

Smart Shifts

-> Proximity calculation and address finding -> Places Api 

  • Travel Claim -> Calculate distance from – to location-> Distance Matrix Api 

 

        

2. Web/Staff Portal  - We are using a Google map (third party map service provider) paid service to find out distance, direction latitude longitude, and address on the different areas of the web for a Shift. All these services are paid. 

  • Members Contact Card -> Track Arrival  

               

  • Search Available Members Card -> Travel Km Column 

  • Client Details -> Save Address

  • Assign Member by Name -> Get Distance  

  • Members Contact Card -> Get Distance  

  • Add New Suburb -> Save
