🚀 Why is this Upgrade Required?

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is mandating the transition to TLS 1.3 for all Digital Service Providers (DSPs) to enhance the security of Single Touch Payroll data transmissions. TLS 1.2 will be retired by 31st December 2025, making the upgrade mandatory.

This is a compulsory national security uplift for all Digital Service Providers (DSPs) to ensure data encryption, compliance, and alignment with ATO’s prescribed standards.

To comply with this requirement, EOH must complete:
  1. Windows Server Upgrade (2017 → 2022)
  2. TLS 1.3 Application Upgrade

🛠️ Maintenance Overview

As a Digital Service Provider (DSP) with the ATO, this update is a mandatory process to ensure compliance with both the system and your business. We will be completing a Windows Server upgrade (2017 → 2022) and updating the EOH Finance Application to support TLS 1.3. 

There will be no downtime for the rest of the EOH system or mobile apps — only the Finance Application will be affected.

The upgrade will be delivered in two distinct phases:

  • Phase 1 — Windows Server Upgrade (Requires Downtime)
  • Phase 2 — TLS 1.3 Application Upgrade (No Downtime)

Phase 1 — Windows Server Upgrade (Requires Downtime)

This upgrade is essential for the Finance Application to enable TLS 1.3 support.

Affected Components:

  • Finance Application Only

Unaffected Components:

  • Main EOH System

  • Worker App

  • Client App

  • Rostering

  • Timesheets

  • Recruitment

  • Payroll (other than finance access)

Phase 1 - Schedule

Each activity is scheduled to run from 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM AEDT on the planned dates below.

Phase 1 - Upgrade Activities

During this upgrade, we are performing the following activities:

  • Upgrade from Windows Server 2017 → Windows Server 2022

  • Required to support TLS 1.3

  • Finance Application unavailable during the window

  • Full system validation completed before reopening

Phase 2 — TLS 1.3 Application Upgrade (No Downtime)

This step is performed after the successful completion of Windows upgrade activities.

Phase 2 - Timeline: 

Between 12:00 AM – 3:00 AM Client Head Office Local Time

When: Occurs after the successful completion of Phase 1 Windows Upgrade

Impact:

  • No downtime

  • Finance Application remains fully operational

  • Entire EOH system remains active

  • Full system validation completed before reopening

This is an application-level upgrade conducted in the background, ensuring continuous service without any interruption.

Phase 2 - Upgrade Activities

During this upgrade, we are performing the following activities:

  • Implement TLS 1.3 support 

  • No change to existing application features

  • No downtime or service interruption

  • No impact on Finance or any other modules

This step ensures full compliance with ATO regulatory requirements.
