Introduction
The Shift Tolerance feature allows you to define the acceptable time variation for the shifts while submitting the timesheet via Workforce App. The shift time tolerance range can vary from 0 to 15 minutes, with a value of 0 indicating no applicable tolerance.
This tolerance applies to both the start and end times of the shift. For example, if the shift time tolerance is set to 15 minutes, acceptable variations for a 9 am to 5 pm shift would be between 08:45 and 9:15 for the start time, and between 16:45 and 17:15 for the end time.
The shift tolerance settings can be configured at global and client levels.
How to Set Time for Timesheet Tolerance?
You can set the time for timesheet tolerance in the Client Master Settings and Client Level settings. Note that the time for timesheet tolerance defined in the Client Level settings will override the defined settings in the Client Master settings in case the 'Apply client-level settings' flag is set to YES.
To set time for Timesheet Tolerance:
- Click Master → Client Master → Configure New Client Web App Settings → Timesheets
- In the Timesheet tab, provide the time in the Set Time for Timesheet Tolerance. This time is provided in minutes
- Click Save
- The time for timesheet tolerance is set for the member's timesheet at the global level
You can set the time for timesheet tolerance at the client level that will overide the Client Master level settings.
To set time for timesheet tolerance configuration at the client level, click Home → Profiles → Clients → Client Management → Configure Client Interface → Timesheets.
How is Shift with Timesheet Tolerance Processed?
In the Workforce App, the specified time for timesheet tolerance is applicable when the member submits the timesheet. Based on the acceptable time variation set for the shift in the master or client settings, the member's timesheets are processed.
On clicking the timesheet for submission:
- If the shift Start Time and End Time fall within the acceptable time variation, the submitted timesheet will be processed as a standard shift and the submitted timesheet will highlight the member's start or end time in orange color as shown in the figure below
- If the shift Start Time and End Time do not fall within the acceptable time variation, the submitted timesheet will highlight the member's start or end time in orange color, and for the client's in red as shown in the figure below
For example, if the time for timesheet tolerance is set to 5 minutes for the member's shift as shown in the figure below, acceptable variations for a 19:00 to 01:00 am shift would be between 18:55 and 19:05 for the start time, and between 12:55 and 01:05 for the end time
If the time exceeds the set acceptable variations, the time will be highlighted in red color when the Supervisor reviews and signs the timesheet
The shift tolerance applies to the shift start and end times.
